Book from Osaka
In May I had a short break so I decided to visit Osaka, Japan for a few days. While there I wanted to see if there was a bookstore that sold old Japanese art books. And there was! It is called, Antique Books Nakao Shoten, and it is near Dotonbori street. (If you’re interested in finding this bookstore, just use Google maps! & here is some more info: 本) They have many antique books, including ones with original art
My boyfriend and I scoured the stacks of books for an art book that was reasonable in price but also had some cool stuff. And we found it! It was only about 3,000 yen, so a little under 30 dollars.
To be frank, I don’t know much about the history of this book. I don’t think it is terribly old, but I am very happy with the art. I think it will prove as great inspiration for years to come.
Here is my book!:
And here are some select pages from the inside!
Overall I think it is extremely cool, but I have yet to draw or paint some direct inspiration from it. But it was a fun experience to peruse those books and I hope to keep it safe for years to come!
