Seoul - Yeouido Park
The last gasp of summer at Yeouido Park in Seoul!
Right on the Han River it is a beautiful place to chill and people watch.
I went there to sketch and hang out with some friends, I’m just going to share some pictures of that day~
But first, I want to provide you with a screen shot from two common navigation apps in Korea. Google Maps does not work well!
Instead I use Naver Maps, but others also use Kakao Maps. Naver generally has all the directions in the Roman alphabet whereas Kakao is usually still in Hangul (the Korean writing system.)
Navigation apps!
Next are just some sketches I did while people watching!
Sometimes I feel a bit like a creep drawing unsuspecting strangers but it’s fun and I feel I improve so quickly when drawing from life.
A couple sitting right in front of our spot. Easy targets.
Another couple eating ramen and drinkin’ soda
Had some difficulty drawing people sitting - but I like the top sketch.
I didn’t take pictures of all my sketches while there. But later at home I added some watercolor to a few sketches, I’ll share some of those next!
Sketching a sketcher!
Lastly, I want to include some photos of the day. It was truly phenomenal weather.
For me these days seem rare. Being Southern California-raised this whole “season” thing is still very jarring. So when we are graced with such a fantastic day I really try to appreciate it.
Thanks for checking it out!
Yeouido Park is a very popular place in Fall and Spring as well. You can rent these mats, trays, and even lights for your little picnic.
You can even order delivery and pick it up!
It’s super fun and I hope to be able to relax by the Han a couple more times before winter comes..
